Overview of the R5 gauge – wireless inclinometer (tiltmeter)
A wireless inclinometer (tiltmeter), autonomous and ready to use
The R5 gauge is a wireless inclinometer (tiltmeter) designed to remotely monitor the tilt of civil engineering structures, retaining walls, balconies, or any other sensitive structure. Fully autonomous, it does not require any additional equipment to operate. Delivered ready to use, it includes everything needed for reliable, accurate, and long-term monitoring.
A complete solution delivered with:
Three embedded sensors: 2-axis tilt, temperature, and humidity
An application with unlimited access duration, on smartphone or PC, to configure and view data
One year of subscription included, activated only at first start-up. Even after expiry, data remain available in the application
“Monitoring+” mode to temporarily increase measurement frequency (up to one measurement every 2 minutes and data uploads every hour). This mode is time-limited to preserve the battery and the amount of data
Supplied fasteners (bracket and wall plugs), for simple installation in all configurations
The R5 gauge wakes up at regular intervals to measure tilt, temperature, and humidity, stores the data locally, and then transmits them to the application according to the configured upload frequency.
With its intuitive interface, no technical skills are required. The user simply sets three parameters in the app: measurement interval, data transmission interval, and monitoring start time.
A reusable inclinometer that can be configured remotely: settings can be adjusted at any time remotely to match site requirements. Once a monitoring campaign is completed, the gauge can be removed, stored, and reused for a new job with a configuration identical to the initial installation.
Extended network coverage in Europe and internationally
The R5 gauge connects to LTE-M / NB-IoT networks. These networks use 4G base stations and are specifically designed for IoT devices, with a protocol enabling a longer range and better penetration through walls (it can connect in basements where a phone may have no signal).
Multi-operator connectivity provides coverage in all European countries and in the main countries worldwide. For any questions regarding coverage in your country, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The subscription only starts when the gauge is activated. As long as it has not been commissioned, the subscription does not take effect.
More than 8 years of battery life depending on use
The gauge operates with a 3.6 V lithium battery (included). Battery life depends on the selected settings and operating conditions and can range from more than 2 years to more than 8 years in standard situations. The application provides an estimated remaining battery life during the initial setup.
When the battery approaches end of life, an alert is automatically sent so you can plan battery replacement in advance.
“Monitoring+” mode: enhanced monitoring that can be enabled remotely
To address temporary needs for more intensive monitoring (e.g., unusual events, construction works, structural alerts), a “Monitoring+” mode can be enabled remotely via the application.
This mode increases measurement and transmission frequency with the following settings:
measurement interval: every 2, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes
data transmission interval: every 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours
This mode is temporary, as it consumes more energy and data.
The maximum operating duration is automatically determined based on the selected frequency. Once this duration is reached, if the user has not disabled “Monitoring+” mode, the device automatically returns to standard mode to preserve battery life and data usage. This mode can be enabled multiple times for a series of measurements up to a limit of 12,000 measurements.

Quick and easy installation of the R5 inclinometer
The R5 gauge is designed for fast installation that is accessible to everyone, with no specific technical skills required. It can be installed in a few steps using the supplied fasteners and the Saugnac application, available on smartphone and PC. A detailed user guide is included to walk you through the process step by step.
Installation steps:
Add the gauge in the Saugnac app: scan the QR code on the gauge or manually enter the identifier located under the QR code to add it to your interface.
Configure operating settings: in the app, set:
the time of the first measurement
the measurement interval: every 1h, 2h, 4h, 6h, 8h, 12h, or 24h
the data transmission interval: every 12h, every 1, 2, 3, or 7 days. Note: a longer transmission interval increases battery life.
Power on the gauge: open the enclosure, switch it on, then close the enclosure. The gauge initializes automatically, connects to the network, and indicates its status via an LED. Once ready, it enters sleep mode until the time of the first measurement.
Mount the gauge on the structure to be monitored:
solid substrate: use the brass anchors
hollow substrate: use the EPDM anchors
Mounting the wireless inclinometer (tiltmeter)
The R5 gauge is supplied with two types of anchors:
Brass anchors for solid substrates requiring Ø8 mm holes Tools required (not supplied) for mounting on solid substrates with brass anchors: drill, Ø8 mm drill bit, 5 mm hex key + 3 mm hex key to open the enclosure and power on the inclinometer.
EPDM anchors for hollow substrates (also suitable for solid substrates) requiring Ø13 mm holes. Tools required (not supplied) for mounting on hollow (or solid) substrates with EPDM anchors: drill, Ø13 mm drill bit, 5 mm hex key, + 3 mm hex key to open the enclosure and power on the inclinometer.
To mount the gauge, drill the holes, insert the anchors, prepare the fasteners + bracket to be fixed to the substrate, then place the inclinometer in the bracket and fine-tune the positioning.
Bonding is also possible for metal substrates by gluing the bracket using a fast-curing two-part epoxy adhesive.
Subscription and network coverage: reliable, wide-area connectivity
Each connected gauge is supplied with a one-year multi-operator subscription, valid throughout Europe and in the main countries worldwide. For any questions regarding coverage in your country, please do not hesitate to contact us.
When powered on, the device automatically selects the best available network, using LTE-M and NB-IoT protocols specifically designed for IoT communications via mobile operators’ 4G base stations.
Handling network interruptions
In the event of a temporary connection loss, the gauge stores data locally. These data are automatically transmitted the next time a connection is available.
If the interruption persists, the device attempts automatic reconnection, including switching operator if necessary.
Subscription management
Duration: 1 year from first activation
Renewal: directly from the app, either by credit card or via a purchase order generated from a quote
Price: €49 excl. VAT for one additional year
Data: after expiry, previously recorded data remain accessible, but no new measurements are transmitted until the subscription is renewed
Real-time tilt monitoring from the Saugnac application
All data measured by the built-in sensors (2-axis tilt, temperature and humidity) are available remotely via the application https://saugnac.app, available free of charge on smartphone and PC. Access to the application remains active even after the subscription ends, and previously recorded data remain available with no time limit.
📊 Data visualization and analysis
Customizable charts: view trends in clear, exportable charts (image format), ideal for your reports
Data export: download raw measurements in Excel or CSV format for in-depth analysis
Dynamic report sharing: generate a secure link providing access to an interactive report containing the most recent data at the time of viewing
🚨 Alert system
The application lets you configure email alerts if a threshold is exceeded (upwards or downwards) relative to the first recorded measurement. This keeps you informed in case of unusual or critical changes. The alert is sent when data are transmitted.
