The G5+ gauge is a removable inclinometer designed to measure changes in an inclination or a tilt. The principle is the same as the G5 gauge, but this removable version is positioned in specific baseplates to take the reading; the gauge is then removed and stored in its carrying case. Repeatable readings are ensured by centring on machined parts.
This approach has several advantages:
The G5+ gauge is held magnetically in a baseplate with locating pins. A G5+ baseplate must therefore always be fixed, using the screws supplied, before the G5+ gauge can be used.
The G5+ gauge is simply positioned by magnetic attraction, using the positioning guides on the body of the gauge. 3 positions are possible:
The reading principle is exactly the same as for the G5 gauge. Stand directly in front of the needle, with your eyes level with the dial, to avoid any parallax error. To make sure you are exactly in front of it, you should not be able to see the sides of the needle.

Read according to the vernier principle:
The T mark of the vernier lies between two graduations of the measuring scale. Example: between 28 and 29. The number of mm corresponds to the graduation to the left of the vernier T mark: 28 mm in the example.
Look for the vernier line that coincides with a line on the measuring scale. In the example, vernier graduation 7 coincides with graduation 35 on the measuring scale. In other words, the decimal reading is 0.7 mm.
The difference between two consecutive readings, MULTIPLIED by 5, gives the change in mm per metre of height.
So, change in inclination or tilt at the top = Absolute value (M2 – M1) x 5 x H
